In Africa, with the changing demand for energy and the pursuit of clean energy, compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel is gradually gaining attention. Many car owners in various countries are considering converting their vehicles to use CNG, which has made the price of CNG retrofit kits a hot topic.

Taking Nigeria as an example, the country has been making frequent efforts to promote the popularization of CNG vehicles. According to relevant data, the cost of converting a car to CNG power is usually between 250000 and 800000 naira. This price range is influenced by multiple factors, among which the type of CNG retrofit kit is one of the key factors. There are mainly two types of Venturi kits and Sequential kits on the market. The design of the Venturi kit is relatively simple and the price is relatively affordable, with a price range of approximately 150000 to 400000 naira in Nigeria; However, this kit may not be suitable for all vehicle models, especially those equipped with modern fuel injection systems. The sequential injection kit is more advanced and better adapted to modern vehicles, providing better fuel efficiency and engine performance, but at a higher price ranging from 400000 to 800000 naira.

In addition to the price of the kit itself, the installation cost cannot be ignored. In Nigeria, the cost of installing a professional CNG retrofit kit is generally between 50000 and 150000 naira, depending on the complexity of the vehicle modification.

From the perspective of market trends, the CNG powered vehicle market in Africa has broad prospects. Mordor Intelligence predicts that between 2025 and 2030, the compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas powered vehicle markets in Africa will grow at a rate of 7% per year, with CNG powered vehicles accounting for the majority of the growth share. Some African governments are also actively supporting the development of this field. Nigeria has launched a presidential compressed natural gas initiative, and Egypt has announced a nationwide plan to convert 1.5 million cars to CNG vehicles this year. These measures are expected to have a certain impact on the market price of CNG retrofit kits. With the increase in demand and the emergence of economies of scale, there may be room for a decline in the price of retrofit kits in the future, further promoting the widespread application of CNG in the transportation sector in Africa.
